Great question!
A great place to start is by answering these questions:
1. Will you go to Heaven when you die?
2. What do you think it takes to get there?
Here's some Good News.
God wants you to go to Heaven!
No matter what you've done, who you've done it with or how many times you've done it, God wants you to go to Heaven. He even said that it's not hard to get there.
He even says it's a gift.
Romans 6:23 says that the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
He also said He's preparing it for you!
John 14:3 says And if I go and prepare a place for you
But...
We've got a problem!
We can't get there on our own. We need help.
We cannot save ourselves.
Ephesians 2:9 "not by works so that no one can boast"
We've sinned (done things we shouldn't)
Romans 3:23- "All have sinned and fallen short of what God really wants us to be"
We actually deserve the worst.
Romans 6:23- "the wages of sin is death"
Here is some Good News!
God takes care of our problem
No matter what, God can take care of our sin problem. That's why He sent His Son, Jesus into the world
Jesus can do that because He is God and became a man
John 1:1 - In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God and the Word was God.
John 1:14- The Word became flesh and made His dwelling amoung us.
Jesus not only died, but He raised Himself from the dead (no kidding!)
Romans 4:25- He was handed over to die because of our sins, and He was raised to life to make us right with God
You Need to Make a decision!
No one can make the decision for you. We can know about God wanting us to go to heaven, our problem of not being able to get there on our own, and God taking care of the problem, but...
If we don't do anything about it, it will not be done!
You might be asking, What do I do?
We need to place our faith in Jesus- Believe He can take you to Heaven
Ephesians 2:8- For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith- and this is not from yourselves, it is a gift from God
Faith is not just believing facts about Jesus
James 2:19- You believe there is one God. Good! Even the demons believe that- and they shudder
Faith is putting our total trust in Jesus to get us to Heaven
Like boarding an airplane- you're trusting the pilot to get youto your destination
Is that all? Well, you need to at least tell Him
Pray this prayer:
Jesus, I know that you want me to go to heaven and I want to go there. Thank you for dying on the cross to pay the penalty for my sins and thank you for being raised from the dead so I can have eternal life.
I'm trusting you to get me to heaven and I receive your free gift of eternal life.
You are my Savior and my Lord.
Thank you Jesus!
